What counts as a “message” in my quota?
Every time a character replies to a member, it draws from your monthly quota. A standard reply counts as 1 message. A reply from a Hero character (more powerful model, much longer memory, richer responses) takes more compute, so it counts as 5 messages. Your quota resets every month.
What is a Hero character ✦?
Most of your characters are extras: the standard model is more than enough. A Hero is reserved for your central characters — the ones members truly bond with. It writes longer, more immersive lines, remembers far further back, and builds deeper relationships (it gets to know you faster and in finer detail). Depending on your plan you get one or more Hero slots, and each is assigned in a single click. Because it uses more compute, every Hero reply counts as 5 messages from your quota.
What's the difference between characters and messages?
Characters are practically free: create as many as your plan allows. What really matters is the number of messages exchanged — that's what defines your plan.
What happens if I hit my quota?
Your NPCs pause until the monthly reset. You can upgrade your plan or add a message pack at any time to resume right away.
Can I change plans along the way?
Yes. An upgrade takes effect immediately. A downgrade applies at your next renewal — any extra characters go dormant without losing their memories.
Do NPCs really remember members?
Yes. Each NPC keeps a distinct relationship with every member: affinity, trust, and remembered facts evolve over the course of your exchanges.
What is the Lore?
It's the shared setting for all your characters: the era, the place, the mood. You describe it once, and all your characters automatically fit into it.
And what is the Bot?
Your server's narrator. It can stay silent — your characters are plenty on their own — or speak up with a personality of its own: announcing an event, reacting to what's happening. It's one more character, entirely your call. Don't confuse it with the Lore: the Lore is the setting, the Bot is a voice.
